John Sarkis has been doodling for a long time. When he was a kid, he used to copy cartoons out of newspapers. While working at the Sarkis family restaurant, Langley Village Pizzeria, he doodles like crazy. One day he said, “If only I could do that bigger on canvas … that’d be cool.”He took art classes in high school from Rich Conover, and sold his first painting as a high school student. He paints with everything: oils, a mix of acrylics and spray paint. “I have the idea and outcome already in mind,” said John, who says he’s self-taught. Whenever art gets boring, he adds his own unique twist.
