THIS IS NOT A PRINT OF A PHOTOGRAPH - The original artwork that this Giclée print is of is an oil on canvas painting. The original painting is the same size as the print - it has not be scaled down what so ever. This is a style of painting called Hyper-Realism. Note: The print has a 1" white border. Artist Statement: "The way we see each other is filtered through various lenses that often are formed to dehumanize whether by choice or by society. I paint portraits as a practice of seeing someone and responding. Intimacy and vastness are a dichotomy that seems to have wrapped my current body of work together. From the smallest to the largest paintings, the nearness, yet incompleteness or obscured form of the cropped painted faces leaves one both closely confronted and distantly aware of the fullness of the subject. I look to artists such as Antonio Lopez Garcia, Aleah Chapin, and Tim Lowly as examples of painting with humility toward the subject. My creation process over the last three years attempts to embrace a sense of discovery in the mystery of observing deeply. It attempts to embrace the power of seeing someone both for me the artist, and I hope for the viewer." -Erica Elan Ciganek
